Coloured cornflour goop
Coloured cornflour goop
You need:
-
	2 cups of cornflour
-
	1 ½ cups of water
-
	Food colourings
-
	A fork
How to make it:
-
Mix the cornflour and water together to make a thick but smooth mixture. This needs to be done immediately before exploration of the item otherwise it will set and it is much more difficult for it to be manipulated.
-
Put the cornflour into a tray and then drop food colourings on the top, they will spread out a bit but not much.
-
Allow your child to mix the colours together either with their hand or a fork.
How it can be used to support learning:
-
Exploring the properties of a different material
-
	Colour mixing
-
	Tracking a moving object
-
Hand awareness- where are their hands and how do they move to touch items?
-
Using tools for a functional purpose i.e. fork to stab and drag
-
Isolating a finger to explore a material
-
Observing the results of their actions
-
Engaging in parallel play with another child/adult
