Gems

You need: 

1. ‘Gems’- This could be anything from sequins to old buttons 

2. Water- To submerge the gems 

3. Glitter- For attractiveness 

4. Bowl or small tray 

How to make it: 

1. Place the ‘gems’ in the bottom of a tray and submerge with water 

2. Add some glitter for attractiveness 

3. Ask your child to pick up the gems and place in a pot 

How it can be used to support learning: 

1. Developing hand-eye co-ordination  

2. Developing pick up and release using hands 

3. Improving thumb and forefinger grasp 

4. Maintaining a sustained grasp of an object 

5. Watching their hands when they do something 

6. Transferring an object from one hand to the other 

7. Placing an item with accuracy
