Outdoor Learning
Children will visit our school-based forest school for a half termly block once a year. Our complex needs classes access this space during warmer terms, with the forest school site being wheelchair accessible. Sessions follow a clear structure which replicates routines children are familiar with from the classroom.
Children engage in a wide range of activities in the forest including reading, building shelters, digging and making observations.
Forest school offers our children opportunities to develop problem-solving and risk assessment skills, build on desires to be curious and explore, help them to understand, appreciate and care for their natural environment, and enhance other aspects of their learning.
Outdoor Learning Coordinator
Our outdoor learning coordinator supports children to access meaningful and engaging experiences outside of the classroom, working with class teachers and curriculum leads to align outdoor experiences with learning from the classroom.
