SPECIALIST PROVISION FOR TWO YEAR OLDS
Toucan provides childcare for two-year-old children with a range of complex learning and/or medical needs. We offer an accessible and appropriate first early years experience in a setting that is inclusive, nurturing, and responsive to each child’s individual needs. Toucan is based at Willow Dene, Swingate Lane.
We provide an environment that is safe, stimulating and nurturing, where children and their families are at the heart of everything we do. We take time to understand what each child and family needs and build our provision around those needs, ensuring that every child can thrive.
Our team consists of exceptional practitioners who work closely as part of an extensive multi-disciplinary team of specialists. Our expertise lies in supporting very young children with complex needs. Toucan is led by an experienced early years teacher and a highly skilled team with specialist knowledge of early child development. The setting maintains a high ratio of adults to children, ensuring that every child receives the support and attention they require.
Children are supported by the Toucan team as they prepare to move on to their next setting. Their progress is carefully monitored and documented through detailed observations, photographs and video clips, which are shared regularly with families to celebrate achievements and inform next steps.
We offer:
- Daily contact with families
- Support and advice which will help you and your child at home
- A nursing team on site and close work with the community nursing team who provide relevant medical training for staff
- Use of Willow Dene’s specialist environments including the swimming pool
- Regular contact with other professionals including Oxleas NHS therapists and Greenwich Sensory Service
- A family support team and regular coffee mornings
- Attendance with you at medical appointments or other meetings
- MOVE and sensory processing teams
- Sessions with our ‘Dog Mentor’ trained support dog
- Music therapy
- Regular school based clinics including the dietician and ophthalmology
- Home or hospital visiting
- Parent groups
- Reports which include photographs and video
